Accommodation

This is a basic hostel-style accommodation where you will share with other climbers. Private room available for 2pax, 4pax and 6pax room.

Personal Belongings
  • It is not recommended to bring valuable items.
  • Safekeeping of personal belongings is your responsibility.
  • Original passports or identity cards are required for verification during registration.
Extra Luggage

Extra luggage or belongings you prefer not to bring on the climb can be stored in our office’s luggage storage for RM5 per item.

Porter Services

Porters can be hired at Park HQ to carry your backpack. Please ensure your backpack has proper rain protection. Payment for porter services must be made directly to the porter in cash.

Travel Requirements
  • Your passport must have at least six months’ validity from the date of entry into Malaysia.
  • No refunds, partial or full, will be issued for unused services or activities after the tour has commenced.
Liability and Refund Policy
  • We will not be liable for delays, additional expenses, or inconveniences caused by events beyond our control, including but not limited to late flight arrivals, civil disturbances, natural disasters, extreme weather, government actions, or equipment failures.
  • In the event of bad weather or other unforeseen conditions, the local authority (Sabah Parks) reserves the right to cancel the summit climb. No refunds, partial or full, will be provided in such cases.
Travel Insurance

We strongly recommend all guests obtain adequate personal travel insurance before commencing the trip.

Guest Responsibilities
  • We cannot be held responsible for any injury, property loss, accident, or damage incurred during your stay or activities, whether booked through us or caused by third parties.
  • Guests must inform us of any disabilities requiring special attention or dietary restrictions at the time of booking. While we will do our best to accommodate such requests, we cannot guarantee them and are not liable if services cannot be provided by hotels, restaurants, or other suppliers.
Indemnity Form

All guests are required to read and sign an Indemnity Form before the tour commences.

Mountain Guide Overtime Charges

Mountain guide overtime charges are based on the arrival time at Timpohon Gate on the descent day. A fee of MYR 15 per guide, per hour, will apply for any extra hours starting from 4:00 PM. This charge is calculated per group.

Transportation Overtime Charges

Transportation overtime charges of MYR 80 per vehicle (one-way) will apply in the following cases:

  1. Pick-up: From the airport or hotels in Kota Kinabalu city to Kinabalu Park/Poring Hot Spring after 6:00 PM on the climbing day (Day 1).
  2. Drop-off: From Kinabalu Park HQ to Kota Kinabalu city after 7:00 PM on the descent day due to climbers’ late arrival.

Transfers after 10:00 PM to/from Kinabalu Park or Poring Hot Spring are considered midnight transfers and will incur a charge of MYR 120 per vehicle (one-way).

About Drinking Water / Hot Water

UV-filtered drinking water is available at the Laban Rata restaurant area. Mineral water can be purchased at the grocery counter for MYR 7 (500 ml) or MYR 14 (1.5 liters). Coffee and tea are provided only during breakfast and supper hours.

Hot water is available for free from the water dispenser at Pendant hut and Panalaban hostel. Alternatively, a mug of hot water can be purchased at the restaurant for MYR 1.50.

Electricity is only available from 4.00 PM to 10.00 PM and 1.00 AM to 3.30 AM

Standard check-in time at Laban Rata is approximately 1:00 PM, and check-out time is at 10:30 AM.

 

Itinerary

DAY 1KOTA KINABALU TO LABAN RATA

MT. KINABALU CLIMBING

Pickup from your Hotel in Kota Kinabalu city at 0600hrs then we will depart on a 2hours ride towards Kinabalu National Park passing through villages and mountains area. Once there, meet your mountain guide and he will assist you with the Registration process. Make sure to bring along your valid ID for permit application.

Afterward, we will depart for a brief 10-minute ride to the Timpohon Gate, which marks the beginning of your hike up to Laban Rata.

Once you reach the Timpohon Gate, take a moment to listen to your mountain guide’s safety briefing and get ready to embark on your journey. The hike up to Laban Rata typically takes around 4-6 hours, depending on your fitness level. Along the trek, don’t forget to make a stop for your lunch around noon. There are huts available at every kilometers for you to take a break.

Upon arriving at Laban Rata, check in to your accommodation and prepare for an early dinner. After your meal, take some time to rest and rejuvenate, as you’ll need to rise early the next day.

DAY 2LABAN RATA TO KINABALU PARK OFFICE (S,B)

Wake up early and have your supper which served 2 am. Around 2:30 am, your hike up to the summit; Low’s Peak at 4,095 meters above sea level, will begin. This challenging hike takes approximately 4-6 hours before dawn, so make sure to use your head torch or a flashlight during this part of the journey.

Please note that there is a cut-off time for climbers to pass through the Sayat-Sayat Gate, which is set at 5:30 am. Those who do not reach Sayat-Sayat before this time will not be allowed to continue their journey up to the summit.

Once you arrive at the summit, soak in the breathtaking experience of a sunrise above the sea of clouds, though this is subject to weather conditions. Capture this awe-inspiring moment with your camera and immerse yourself in the stunning scenery.

After enjoying the summit, begin your descent back to Laban Rata. Then, head to the dining hall for a well-deserved breakfast. Following breakfast, it’s time to return to your accommodation for check-out.

Next, start your descent back down to the Timpohon Gate where your transport will be ready and waiting for you. We’ll transfer you back to the Kinabalu National Park office, where you can collect your climbing certificate as a testament to your incredible achievement.

Then enjoy your Lunch before we transfer you back to your Hotel in Kota Kinabalu City.
